First Week of Junior Year

By the way, this is me!
Hey there readers! This is my first blog post for my Social Media Principles class at Ohio Northern University. We have to make three posts a week and they have to be an ONU post, so something relating back to our time at school, a PR, or social media post, which would be anything related to social media or public relations, and finally a reading post, which is just my reaction to the assigned reading for the week. Anyway, this post is going to be about my first week back at school.

This is the common room of my apartment.
This year I'm living in an apartment for the first time and it's really different from just living in the regular dorms and having a meal plan. I have to remember to actually make myself food, which is weird, because like everyone else on campus, I used to go to Mac and just get the food there and just put up with it (by the way ONU is notorious for having not great food). Now I get to make the food I eat all the time, which is so much better than Mac's and I get happy realizing I don't have to eat ONU food anymore! Not only is the food so much better than before, but the apartment is a lot bigger than the dorms. So, I definitely think that living in an apartment is going to be really great!

Other than moving into the apartment, I've been going to classes and talking to the new video professor, so we can get the TV station up and running again. I'm really excited to work with the equipment, make sure we're getting a constant stream of new content coming in, and improving my video skills. I'm a Multimedia Journalism major, but my true passions lie in creating and producing videos, specifically editing the videos and working behind the scenes. I really try to branch out and gear a lot of my major related classes towards video production and editing.

I guess the last thing that really went on this week was today I played Mud Volleyball for the first time. Mud Volleyball is a yearly event ONU does that lets you make a team and play volleyball in a tournament and the you play in a pit of mud. Even the President of the university, Dan DiBiasio, plays to kick off the event. It was a ton of fun to do it and it was something I wanted to do since Freshman year, but I could never really get a team together to do it. My team ended up losing our first game, but it was extremely close the whole time, with us losing 20-22. It's definitely something I can't miss next year and I'm going to make sure I get a team together again.
