Me_irl

Reddit calls itself the "front page of the internet," and in some ways, I can see why. The entirety of the content that you're shown on Reddit can be tailored for you. It effectively becomes your front page of the internet. It's an interesting concept for a social media site that has all of the users being anonymous and all content posts and comments work on an upvote/downvote system. Users can upvote content they like and downvote content they don't like. You can subscribe to subreddits, which are groups oriented towards a specific type of content (r/askreddit answers question, r/writingprompts posts prompts and users will write stories about it, etc.).

Now that we have that out of the way, I'm going to talk about my favorite sub-reddit. The subreddit is me_irl. Me_irl is all about making relatable, but mainly terrible, very terrible memes. By terrible, I mean, unless you are there when a new meme trend starts, you will have absolutely no understanding of what is going on. But then again, no one has any understanding of what's going on in this subreddit anyway. This entirely defeats the purpose of the subreddit and it results in some of the most hilarious memes I have ever seen. It's the epitome of what an anonymous social media site should be. No one cares about usernames and the goal is to make people laugh, or make the memes become so confusing that nothing is recognizable to the outside world. There are references that were made literally five minutes earlier in a separate thread. So, in conclusion, I encourage everyone to go to r/me_irl on Reddit and enjoy all that is has to offer. You may not get the jokes, but that dear readers, is the whole point of this place.

  1. I love anything involving memes! I haven’t heard too much about reddit, but it seems interesting and like something I should at least try a little more to learn about it. Glad you enjoy it!
