Live Tweeting Football

The band playing before the game starts.
Over the weekend, my social media principles class was given the assignment of live tweeting an event during homecoming weekend. I chose to live tweet the Ohio Northern vs. Otterbein football game. We had to create a Storify to make a record of all of the tweets we sent over the course of the event as well. Here's the link to mine, so you guys can check it out.

For the event I covered all of the major happenings by updating the score whenever someone got a touchdown, or whenever a big play happened like a fumble recovery, or an interception.

Live tweeting the game was a lot of fun, even though it was around 90 degrees for most of it. It may have been really hot, but it was great to see the team win by 28 points. The whole time we were getting extremely excited whenever there was a big play. I normally don't go to the football games, but it's been great that I've been able to go to the last couple home games. The games have all been really exciting and I got to hangout with people I don't see too often on campus.

So, I would say that the live tweeting assignment was a success and I'm really glad it got me to go out and do some fun stuff. I'll have to keep in mind live tweeting if I ever want to stop being my lazy self and go do something.
